As long as I’ve lived in Dallas, it has been a mission of mine to find the healthiest ways to eat out around town. When I heard that there would be a new veggie-centric restaurant opening attached to the farmers market, I marked my calendar and patiently awaited it’s arrival. It has only been open a few weeks and I can embarrassingly admit that I’ve tried almost 1/4 of their seasonal menu already. This restaurant is any health-nut’s dream come true. With an abundant amount of vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian, and paleo options; Mudhen Meat and Greens is officially my new favorite restaurant in town. (more…)

Happy new year everyone!!!!!! I still can’t believe it’s almost been a year since I began Inches Miles Moments. I am humbled to receive messages from those of you who have been affected in some way by my weight loss journey. I am so excited for everything this upcoming year has to offer and can’t wait to get started on my new list of goals. I apologize for the lack of blog posts in the past few months. I have been personally dealing with an extreme diet change based on a diagnosis I received in October that has required me to go gluten-free. After a year of getting tested by a long list of different kinds of doctors, I finally have an answer. After three months of no gluten, I have started recognizing parts of my body, personality, attitude, and spirit that I haven’t seen in years. This is how going gluten-free has changed my life. Exercise is a way to burn calories and keep your body in good shape, and good health. It is also one of the most dreaded parts of any sane person’s day. Working out has never been very high on my priority list, but once I realized exercise was part of the weight loss equation, it naturally became part of my daily to-dos. It’s officially my absolute favorite time of the year! The leaves are falling and the crisp smell of Autumn is in the air! Those last brutal summer months are over and it’s feeling chilly enough for a light sweater and a pumpkin spice latte. I love the feeling October brings; there’s excitement in the air with Halloween decorations on every porch and the holiday season just beginning. My cabinets are officially stocked with cans of pumpkin puree for whatever holiday recipe I decide to make next. I celebrated the start of October with my favorite smoothie recipe, my Pumpkin Apple Pie Protein Smoothie! This delicious smoothie is so tasty, you will think you’re eating a dessert for breakfast! It’s almost my FAVORITE time of the year, and that means a lot of brunch dates. Fall is the perfect time to get up early to take a morning jog and throw on your favorite sweater to meet a friend for coffee and pancakes. It’s been difficult for me to find restaurants that offer up fall breakfast favorites without all the extra calories. I’ve driven past Origin on Mckinney so many times and never thought of them as a healthy brunch spot until I saw a picture of their acai bowl and had to stop by to see for myself.

This has been the summer of random trips around the country to visit family and friends for weddings and special occasions. When my younger brother landed the lead in Hair: The Musical in Salem, OR, I had no other choice but to fly up to see him. I’ve heard from countless people about how incredible Oregon is and it surpassed every expectation I had. It truly is one of the most beautiful states I’ve seen in the US filled with trees, creative people, delicious food, and the best coffee I’ve ever tasted.

The summer is the perfect time to get swept away in plans, projects, and vacations, but it’s also a time to get overwhelmed with how full your schedule might be. The constant working and heat always gets the best of me around this time of year. Summer begins to be exhausting and fall can’t come soon enough. That’s why my boyfriend and I decided to take an impromptu drive to Sherman, TX to stay at the beautiful Sazon Anita Vineyards Bed & Breakfast for a little weekend escape.

I have now visited Chicago five times and I can proudly say I’ve done about every touristy thing on the list. This past weekend I travelled up to the windy city once again for my best friends’ wedding and was delighted to show my boyfriend around the exciting town for the first time.
