Growing up, weight loss was always something that seemed so impossible to me. I tried diet after diet for years and never saw any results. I looked at all of my friends and desperately wanted to share clothes with them or be able to play sports and live a normal life. My weight was always something that stood in my way of doing that. It wasn’t until the summer of 2011 when I looked at a picture of myself and truly hated what I saw. The next day I made a call to my local Jenny Craig office and decided it was time for a change.
I was able to see immediate results after just a few weeks on the program and that was the only thing I needed to stay motivated. I did simple exercises for a few days every week like fast paced walking/jogging/riding my bike and was shocked to see that was all my body needed to kick start my metabolism. Week after week I planned my workouts and my meals and was shocked to see the pounds fly off of me every time I stepped on the scale.
Through a course of a year and a half in college, I was able to lose and maintain a weight loss of 85 lbs. The support from my friends, family, and tumblr followers was all I needed to gain the strength and motivation to achieve everything I had ever dreamed of. I learned more about portion control, exercise, food, nutrition, and health in the past few years than I had ever planned on and I hope to share some of that knowledge with you.
I truly believe everything that has happened in my life since then has been because of the confidence and strength I gained from accomplishing something I put my mind to.
I’m currently a 24 year-old aspiring photographer living in Dallas, TX with my best friend/boyfriend/partner in crime, Justin, and our adorable dog, Ellie. Together we have discovered healthy and fun ways to experience young adulthood in an incredible city filled with exciting things to do around every corner.
F. Scott Fitzgerald once wrote: “I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”
I’ve taken this quote to heart and decided to start this blog to encourage others to follow their dreams whether they are to lose weight, travel around the world, fall in love, make the perfect cup of coffee, go back to school, learn an instrument, try something new, or start all over again.
After all, it’s never too late to change your life.
